My in-laws were visiting and invited us out for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I'd heard good things about fischers so booked a table. I felt really embarrassed: at 8pm on a saturday night the kitchen had run out of most dishes on the already limited menu, so there was a choice of linguini with pepper and cheese or veal. How can someone who worked at the best restaurant in Rome not know how to buy in enough food for a Saturday night service??? The pasta was exactly the same as the dish I make at home when I want something fast and filling - it wasn't even fresh pasta. The 'veal' was more like rump steak - tough and chewy. We were all feeling pretty miserable, then the salad arrived, and gave us a good laugh. Seven (we counted!) tiny leaves of lettuce standing up in a bowl, drizzled with olive oil. It looked so small and pointless it was comical. Even the waiter - who'd recommended it - looked embarrassed by it.
Then the bill arrived, and we stopped laughing.
I'd only recommend this place if you enjoy getting ripped off.
