The bronze age, the stone age, rock engravings, sun chariots, alters, the ethnographic collections, the Victorian home or just going outside to pat the pillar of shame of the traitor Corfitz Ulfeld before heading for brunch in the café? Be prepared to select and decide whenever you enter the exhibitions of the National Museum. The same may be said about the shop, where you’ll find a large selection of just about everything.
From copies of ancient jewellery (which, however, should be worn in small amounts and not teamed with lots of home knit woollies unless you still want to look relatively cool) to glass beams from Ghana, paper dolls, Christmas decorations, toy castles, jigsaws with pictures of Tutankhamon, medieval games, cushions with old tapestry patterns and costumes for dressing up handsome knights or pretty princesses. You’ll also find the perfect gift for the confirmand as the shop has a large selection of cross pendants, in both classic and more alternative varieties (it also sells Thor’s hammer pendants, if your confirmand is going through a religiously confused phase).
