“One of the most interesting new labels in Danish jazz”. That's how the American magazine All About Jazz describes the musician- and recordcollective Barefoot Records, a musician-run collective consisting of 9 musicians from Denmark, Norway and Estonia based in Copenhagen. The label releases music in a wide range of musical genres, from folk and singer/songwriter to freeimprovised fire music and avantgarde, united by a strong sense of originality and uncompromising musical aesthetics. The collective was kicked off by 3 musicians at the Academy of Music in Esbjerg, Denmark back in 2006 in the form of a trio release. After 5 years the company's catalog counts 15 solid and critically acclaimed releases.
During the VinterJazz Festival 2012 Barefoot Records presents 11 concerts on an intimate stage in the heart of Copenhagen. The program is a pure rollercoaster ride through modern jazz and improvised music and includes performances from both Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Estonian, Lithuanian and Italian musicians.
The concerts will be presented at "FISK" - DanChurchAid's sustainable shop and coffee shop in the heart of Copenhagen. In FISK's cozy and intimate café you can buy organic coffee/tea, juice, soft drinks and beer, in addtion to homemade cakes and buns. The FISH shop exclusively sells fair trade, second hand, redesign and organic products. The profit goes to DanChurchAid's work in the world's poorest countries.
