A JAZZ PORTRAIT OF HARUKI MURAKAMI (TALK + CONCERT)

Brugeromtale
Oprettet af: Niels Lan Doky Jazz Collective 25. sep 2018

PART 1 (Talk): "Murakami's jazz world"

Before becoming an ultra-renowned best-selling author, selling millions of books sold worldwide in over 50 languages, Haruki Murakami passionately ran a jazz club in Tokyo. Hence the strong presence of jazz throughout his authorship. Join us and these three notables to explore the deeper connections between jazz, Murakami and Japan.

Speakers:

Mette Holm (Murakami's Danish translator)
Michael Solgaard (Cultural Editor, Børsen)
Niels Lan Doky (extensive long term jazz relations with Japan)

PART 2 (Concert): A jazz portrait of Murakami

Comprised of the great Swedish pianist Calle Brickman and the Danish twin brothers Tobias and Nikolaj Dall on respectively bass and drums, the Brickman Dall Trio has spent several years developing a repertoire which is directly derived from jazz references in Murakami’s books. All members of the trio are not only huge Murakami fans but also belong to the elite of Scandinavian jazz artists today. We are proud to present their jazz portrait of Murakami. Don’t miss this premiere which will directly follow the preceding talk and without any intermission in between.

Line-up:

Calle Brickman (piano)
Tobias Dall (bass)
Nikolaj Dall (drums)

Saturday, November 24th, 2018 at 2:30 PM
