The nominees and the winner of Best Sports Bar in Copenhagen 2012
Krølben, Studiestræde 39, 1455 København K (WINNER)
Combine the football match with delicious microbrewery beers and a good atmosphere. Those are the intentions with Krølben in Studiestræde, which is a mixture of a bodega, a pub and a sports bar.
O’Learys, Bernstorffsgade 14, 1570 København V
The Swedish chain O’Learys opened a sports bar with big screen football and a restaurant in the former DSB restaurant in 2004, just when Denmark played their first championship match against Italy, which, as we know, ended a goalless draw. The bar has secured rights to show all major sporting events on television.
The South African Bar, Østerbrogade 112, 2100 København Ø
It used to be McGrath’s Irish Pub. Now it is called The South African Bar and has been transformed into the city’s – as far as we know – only South African bar. Perfectly situated close to Parken, this is the ideal place to meet before and after the match.
Ørsted Ølbar, Nørre Farimagsgade 13, 1364 København K
We find this place in the quiet end of Nørre Farimagsgade, and the bar is named after the park just across the street. There is plenty of football on the box, good draught and bottled beers, table football and pool tables in the back. In short Ørsted is a proper manly bar.
Pub & Sport, Vester Voldgade 7-9, 1552 København V
No matter where you end up being seated, you will have a clear view of a big screen TV. And if there is a match on, you will never be alone when watching. If you feel up for doing a bit of sports yourself, there are seven pool tables and three dartboards in the back.
